A hidden autobiography
A Hidden Autobiography oscillates between essay and narrative, exploring memories, travels, and characters that shaped Sergio Pitol's life and literary style. In a series of stories and a conversation with Carlos Monsiváis, the author revisits important episodes of his life—such as his first boat trip, experiences in Havana, his passion for eccentric settings and characters, and the writing of his novels during his European exile—revealing how memory and literature intertwine to become a unique autobiography in which Pitol ultimately becomes the protagonist of his own texts.
